Tokhi (cap)
Tokhi (caps) are one of the most important elements distinguishing the different communities of Badakhshan. Not only does the design differ, but the name given to them also varies completely from one dialect to the other. Most mountain communities have their own dialect and some of the local names for caps are ‘Paakol’, ‘Skid’, ‘Tokhi’, and ‘Klo’ among many others. Yogued is a Sunni majority village in the Darwaz district and caps made and used in this little community are different from any other in Badakhshan. DPH introduced a new design of winter skull caps, using the traditional patterns and techniques of the Pamiri socks.
