Namad
Namad in Tajik refers to felt carpets made of sheep wool. Namaad is still produced in each family of Badakhshan region, as part of the trousseau for the bride. The rich design illustrates the creative potential existing in the Pamiri culture. The older generation remembers the time when namaads were used as mattresses in Pamiri houses. The technique of felt making is also applied to items other than carpets. Each type of item is given an identification number.
